Sweden’s Sofi Flink is the defending champion and has bested 58 metres twice this year, the only junior woman to reach that far in 2014.

The 19-year-old has a PB of 61.96m – a senior national record – set when qualifying for last year’s World Championships final, where she went on to finish a respectable 10th.

Croatia’s Sara Kolak has a 57.79m mark to lead the rest of the field, but notice must be given to Australia’s world youth champion Mackenzie Little, who stands third on this year’s world junior lists with a 57.60m throw.
