The Vladimir Kuts Memorial meeting was held in Luzhniki stadium in the Russian capital on Sunday (12).

The competitions are dedicated to the memory of the outstanding Russian runner who won the Olympic 5000m and 10,000m double in Melbourne in 1956.

It was - and is - extremely hot in Moscow these days which is one of the reasons why the results were not so good.

Still several participants of the Russian National team that will compete in the World Championships in Osaka, Japan were on show. In the Women's Pole Vault, Yuliya Golubchikova cleared 4.40m, while World Junior Heptathlon champion Tatyana Chernova who is to compete in that Combined Event in Japan tried her luck in the High Jump taking second with 1.79m.

Natalya Lebusova failed to obtain her ticket to Osaka but proved one more time that she's in good form this year with a Long Jump of 6.83m.

Former European champion Olesya Zykina clocked 51.52 for the 400m, and Tatyana Yakovleva was the first in the Triple Jump  with 13.96m.

Many times Russian champion Vyacheslav Shabunin is not going to Osaka but he was the winner at 1500m - 3:49.36 - and the runner-up in the 800m - 1:51.52. The winner of the two laps was Vyacheslav Sokolov (1:51.47).

In Men's High Jump Stanislav Malyarenko cleared 2.18m, while Pavel Gerasimov in pole vaulted 5.50m.
