The USA's world leader Carmelita Jeter heads a posse of big guns who will all genuinely fancy their chances of lifting the IAAF World Championships 100m gold medal.

The phenomenal line up for the Daegu 2011 shoot out will include seven sprinters who have personal bests of under 11 seconds and all of who have bettered that milestone mark this year.

Jeter, after trailing Kelly-Anne Baptiste, powered through in the last 15 metros to win into a 1.5m/s headwind in the fastest time of the semi finals of 11.02 with her Trinidad rival 0.03sec in arrears.

Earlier in the first qualifier Jamaica's Kerron Stewart, the silver medallist two years ago, had a terrible start - her reaction time 0.270 saw her rise last out of the blocks - but flew down the trackway to win in 11.26.

American Marshevet Myers earned the other automatic position clocking 11.38.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was next in action with the defending champion leaving her blocks like a bullet and after bursting down the finish straight slowed approaching the line.

Despite putting on the brakes, the Olympic champion still withheld a strong attack from Veronica Campbell-Brown when finishing  0.03sec ahead of her fellow Jamaican and predecessor as title holder in 11.03.

Ivet Lalova of Bulgaria went through as a fastest loser in 11.23 as did Blessing Okagbare the African champion from Nigeria and the only non sub-11sec performer in the field, who recorded 11.22.
