After a month on the road traveling to and from various corners of Asia and Europe, three-time World 200m champion Allyson Felix is now focusing on three important meetings at home: the upcoming Samsung Diamond League meetings in Eugene and New York, and the US national championships at the end of the month.

“I’m in Eugene for the Prefontaine Classic on Saturday (4 June). I will run the 400m at Pre and a 200m in New York (11 Jun).

“I returned home a week ago after being on the road for about a month. I went from Penn, to New York City to train for a few days, then to Doha, Daegu, Manchester, Monaco for another training period and ended it up with Rome.

“I prepared by just focusing on my races and training.  Being on the road makes it easier to be away from distractions and really completely focus on competition.  Workouts are about the same and are adapted to my competition schedule. In between meets when I'm based in a certain location I'm able to get intense training done which is helpful.

“I'm pleased with the way my season is beginning. It's going to be a long year so I'm looking forward to progressing with my ultimate goal being World Championships.

“As always, I had a great time at the Penn Relays. It is really the most unique and enthusiastic crowd I've ever run in front of in the United States. There is so much energy in the stadium that it makes the races so much more exciting.

“Although I never competed at the Penn Relays in high school, my high school experience was huge in my development. I learned so many foundational things that I even revert back to in my career today.  It is the basis of my work ethic and discipline. I do think starting later in track was an advantage for me, because I still feel fresh and in love with the sport.

“Competing in Manchester was a lot of fun, running in the street with fans so close was thrilling. It always feels longer running a 200 straight but it's such a cool unique experience.”

“My focus now is the USATF Championships in preparation for the World Championships.”
