After scoring victories in eight of her nine 200 and 400m appearances this season and adding two Samsung Diamond Race Trophies to her collection, three-time 200m World champion Allyson Felix is hanging up her spikes for a few months. A holiday in The Bahamas and work with the President's Council on Physical Fitness is next on her agenda.

"Hi everyone,

"I'm done for the year.  My last race was in Brussels.  I felt very pleased with my year.  Although I didn't run as fast as I would have liked to I focused on getting through the year healthy and winning my races.  Off years are tough, without having a major race to focus on but I had fun trying new things this season and learning more about my events.?

"I'm taking a break from training now.  I will get back in the weight room mid October and on the track in November.  I'm taking a vacation with my friends to the Bahamas.  After the Olympics in 2008, I took a trip to Jamaica. I love being by the water so I'm really looking forward to just relaxing.?

"I'm a huge college football fan.  Even though USC where I attended college is suffering from all of their NCAA sanctions I'm continuing to support them and excited to watch them play this year. ?

"I'm also excited for my first President's Council on Physical Fitness meeting on 14 Sept.  The volunteer group is co-chaired by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and gymnast Dominique Dawes and other members includes NBA players Grant Hill and Chris Paul, tennis player Billie Jean King and ice skater Michelle Kwan.?

"I know that we will be getting a lot accomplished so I'm looking forward to being able to focus on getting our youth healthy and active again.?

"That's it for now... See you back on the track in 2011."?
