Running the 400m for the first time in three years and mingling with some of the top female golfers in the world at the Mojo6 tournament in Montego Bay had Olympic champion Veronica Campbell Brown outside her normal element as the outdoor season heats up.

"With April came the start of my outdoor season and my first 400m race in about three years. I competed in the event once previously indoors so it was definitely a new experience for me.
"In Knoxville, Tennessee, I ran 52.77 seconds to finish third in race. I must say I have a newfound respect for my fellow athletes who compete at this distance, as it is indeed a challenge.
"After Tennessee, I competed in Kansas at the Kansas Relays. I had last competed at the Kansas Relays almost ten years ago. I won my first 200m race of the season in 22.32 and then ran on a 4x400m team. I was quite pleased with my efforts in Kansas. Omar, my husband, also won his 200m race in Kansas so I have added reason to be satisfied.
"Between Tennessee and Kansas, I took a quick trip to Jamaica’s second city, Montego Bay, to lend my support as UNESCO Champion for Sport with emphasis on gender equity to the inaugural LPGA Mojo-6 golf tourney.
"I had a chance to mingle and glean information from some of the top ladies in the sport and left the island fully confident that the Mojo-6 concept and ladies golf will continue to make serious inroads in the sporting arena.
"My outdoor season revved up with a 22.60 seconds to win the 200m race at the Jamaica Invitational last weekend and it is now on to Oaska, Japan (where she won the 100m in 11.02) and Daegu, South Korea next.
"It was in Osaka that I won my first senior global 100m title and of course Daegu will host the 2011 IAAF World Athletics Championship.
