With the Samsung Diamond League season now behind her, Valerie Adams isn't quite ready to hang up her spikes for the 2010 season just yet. The reigning World and Olympic champion still has a pair of important dates to keep on her schedule - first next weekend's IAAF / VTB Bank Continental Cup in Split, Croatia, and then the Commonwealth Games next month.

"Hi All,

"Last time I wrote you I was in France, have now moved camp and since my last Diary I have competed 3 times.

"First stop was the London Diamond League which went Ok, we only got four throws which was a bugger. I wasn’t completely satisfied with my performance but never the less I gave it my all.

"Zurich Diamond League was the finals for the Women’s Shot and they held the comp in the main train station which was awesome, the crowd surrounded the whole circle so it was fantastic.

"I was happy with my performance and was also happy with the consistency.  I also got to meet my all-time favourite shot-putter Werner Gunthor for the 1st time and also see his coach Jean Pierre Egger again who I met in NZ seven years ago.

"After Zurich I went to Dubnica in Slovakia for a competition, I had never been to Slovakia so was good to be there and the meet was fantastic, crowd were awesome and I loved the competition atmosphere there.

"I won this meet with my furthest throw in Europe so I was pleased, 2nd was Cleopatra Borel- Brown, she threw a PB of 19.30m.

"I am now in training in Macolin, Switzerland with Werner Gunthor and Jean Pierre Egger, I am learning lots and it is going very well, I really appreciate the time they are spending with me in training.  Macolin Rocks!!! The scenery from the top of the mountain is amazing.

"I am preparing now for the Continental Cup next Sunday in Split, Croatia and then its home to prepare for the Commonwealth Games then my long season ends.

"Till Next time folks.

Val
