Allyson Felix muses on the sensational indoor season, looks forward to her season opener, and reflects on a happy Super Bowl outcome for her.

“Hi everyone

“Just a quick update for all of you. Training is going well.  We are continuing to build on our base but have also begun to add speed endurance into the program which is a nice change. Being a sprinter and someone who loves to go fast it's difficult to be patient while putting in the longer distance training, but I know it needs to be done.

“I haven't made my race schedule for this season yet but I know I will compete in the 100m, 200m and 400m all at some point during the season.

“I think that I will leave my options open and see how I progress and how my body feels before I make a decision on which events I will focus on in the latter part of the season.  I still plan to open my season at Mt. SAC and go on to run some relay meets after that.

“People have asked me if it’s difficult to not be racing with all the sensational marks during the indoor season.  I love to watch track and field so it's been exciting for me to be a spectator during this indoor season.  I have been really impressed by all the great performances.

“In addition to getting on the track and racing, I'm very excited to be a part of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.

“I'm looking forward to serve the council and my country from the viewpoint of a young woman. It's hard for many women and girls to maintain a proper and healthy idea of fitness and body image in our society. I'm looking forward to help change that.

“Another thing that I really enjoy watching besides track is (American) football.  I watched the Super Bowl at home with friends.  I was rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers because I'm a big Troy Polamalu fan. Like me, he also attended USC.  I thought the game was exciting and was happy that the Steelers came out on top.

“That’s it for now.’’
