After a return to her old 'home' track in Fayetteville, Veronica Campbell-Brown is looking forward to her 60m title defence this weekend at the IAAF World Indoor Championshipsin Istanbul, Turkey.

"Hello Fans,

"We are really pushing into the new year now with most of the indoor season behind us. I had one race in February at 60m and it was in my old college town of Fayetteville, Arkansas.  The familiar cold  temperature which hit me the moment I walked out of the airport brought back memories of the days I had to brave the weather to classes in the Walton College of Business. This school is named after the phenomenal entrepreneur Sam Walton, founder of  retail giant, Walmart. It was great competing on the resurfaced track and in front of enthusiastic supporters who cheered me on just as they did during my days competing there, make no mistake about it, the University of Arkansas has one of the best facilities in the country and some of the most loyal fans.  Oh yes, did I say I was there for a race?  I finished in second place running 7.08 seconds and although there is much work to be done, I left there quite pleased with my performance.

"I have committed myself to compete at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Turkey and I am looking forward to going there and doing my best for my country. Despite this being my second visit to a World Indoor Championships, having competed in Doha, Qatar, I am still excited about competing at an indoor championships as I like the closeness to the fans and that creates an atmosphere so intimate it reminds me of outdoor venues like Zurich and Ostrava.

"February brought along Valentine’s Day,  I did not do anything flamboyant, I trained as is normal for a Tuesday and then in the evening Omar and I just had a quiet dinner at home. I also took time out to watch a few NBA basketball games (on TV) and like the rest of us who watch basketball, I am impressed with the New York Knicks point guard, Jeremy Lin. Speaking of watching, I did also watch via the web, bits of the Gibson Relay meet in Jamaica. There is no other crowd that appreciates our sport like the Jamaican fans, absolutely none!

"Thanks for reading,"
