World champion Allyson Felix is gearing up for her second appearance of the year at Mt Sac relays and keeps her options open for the rest of the season...

“Hi Everybody

“I’m excited that the season is here.  I will be running in the 4x100m Relay at Mt. San Antonio College Relays on Saturday (17 April) with my teammates Dawn Harper, Michelle Perry, and Ginnie Powell. The Mt. SAC Relays is a meet that I started running in high school and it’s great to run in front of friends and family.

“I got to compete in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays this past weekend at the Jackie Joyner Kersee/Rafer Johnson Invite at UCLA where I train which was a lot of fun.

“I feel like I'm in similar shape to previous years right now.  Last year was a very difficult year physically and emotionally so we really focused on recovering and taking everything slow this season.

“I am going to run a few more 400m than I have other years.  Because I have a bye for the 200m as defending World champion; at nationals my coach Bobby Kersee and I haven't confirmed which events I will be running.  As the year goes on and I see what I need more work on to accomplish my goals we will make that decision.

“After Mt. SAC Relays, I will be going to the Penn Relays (25 April) to run both the 4x100m and the 4x400m relays.

“Next, I will compete in the 400m at the Qatar Athletics Super Grand Prix meet (8 May).  That will be followed by the adidas Track Classic on 16 May running the 200m.  My final meet of the month will be the Reebok Grand Prix (30 May) and my event there is still to be determined.

“At this point of the year I'm about to start travelling so I'm unable to make many appearances for the causes I support but they continue to be on my mind and have my support as I compete.

“I have recently joined twitter, so I can be closer in touch with my fans.  They can follow me this season as I travel and compete around the world.  I will personally give real time updates on how my racing is going and also respond to any questions they might have.

“They can follow me at http://twitter.com/allysonfelix.  Glisten, my personal workout program for women started by me and my brother Wes, is also on twitter and followers can ask questions about workouts or give us advice on things they would like to see occur.

You can follow Glisten at http://twitter.com/glistenfitness. Also check out the Web Site www.iglisten.net

“Glisten continues to grow and I'm really excited that we are able to reach and help more and more women. We are getting a lot of positive feedback from our new workouts, The Wheatgrass and Oasis Workouts.

“We will also be starting group exercise classes very soon, which is very cool because with athletics I'm always getting great advice from Bobby (Kersee) and doing his killer workouts.

“Now I get to help put together workouts for women. Don't worry our Glisten workouts won't kill you though.

“I hope all of you have a great day!”

Allyson
