23rd IAAF World Race Walking Cup 10-11 May 2008, Cheboksary (RUS)

The 23rd IAAF World Race Walking Cup was awarded to Cheboksary (RUS) by the IAAF Council at its meeting in November 2003 in Berlin (GER). The dates were approved during the Council Meeting in Athens (GRE), in August 2004.

Cheboksary is the capital of the Chuvash Republic. Located on the bank of the Volga river at 600 km from Moscow, its population is 458,000 inhabitants. The city was founded in 1469. There are many historical places, temple including the beautiful Trotsky Cathedral (16th Century).

The climate at the time of the Championships is rather humid, with an average temperature from 15 °C to 20° and average humidity of 50-80 %, rain (precipitation) is possible.

The host broadcaster will be the Federal State Organisation “State TV and Radio Company Chuvashia” (Subsidiary of All-Russia State TV and Radio Company).

Course

The course lies on embankment of Cheboksary’s bay in the Pevcheskoe field’s district. It is 2000m long, with uncurbed streets.
