8 March 2001 - Larry Achike has withdrawn from the Norwich Union Great Britain and Northern Ireland Team for the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Lisbon on 9-11 March with a bruised heel. He has also withdrawn from the Norwich Union International in Glasgow on 18 March and will remain out in Australia where he is currently training.
Achike said: "I am very disappointed that I will not be competing in Lisbon. Although the injury is not serious I feel that it is better to be cautious. I am looking forward to a successful outdoor season."
Marcia RICHARDSON has withdrawn with a knee injury for which she is receiving treatment.
Richardson said: "I was looking forward to competing in Lisbon but my priority for the season has always been the IAAF World Championships in Edmonton in the summer."
