Anatoliy Bondarchuk in Debrecen

11 July 2001 – Debrecen, Hungary - Many former great athletes have come as coaches to Debrecen. One of the most famous of them is hammer throw great Anatoliy Bondarchuk (former URSS – now UKR), who is currently a throwing coach in Kuwait.

Anatoliy Bondarchuk was Olympic Champion in Munich 1972 with 75.50 m – four years after the Hungarian Gyula Zsivotsky won in Mexico City.

1969 was a great year for Anatoliy Bondarchuk, who became European Champion and set two world records:

74.68 Piraeus – European Championships 20. 9. 1969
75.48 Rovno 12.10.1969.

After his career as a great athlete, Bondarchuk became a world famous hammer throw coach.

His best pupil was Yuriy Sedykh, the greatest hammer thrower of all times, who set five world records:

80.38 and 80.64 both in Lezelidze 16.5.1980
81.80 Moskva 9.7.1980
86.34 Cork 3.7.1984
86.66 Tallinn 22.6.1986
86.74 Stuttgart (European-Championships) 30.8.1986

Yurih Sedykh was Olympic Champion in 1976 and 1980, as well as European Champion in 1978, 1982 and 1986.
