Behind Vasilevskis' victory Sirmais improves his World Junior Javelin Throw record

At the Janis Lusis Javelin meeting in Bauska, Latvia, behind the 87.11m victory of current world season leader Vadim Vasilevskis, 19-year-old Zigismunds Sirmais with a throw of 84.69 improved by 22cm his own World Junior record* set on 20 March in Sofia at European Cup Winter Throwing (84.47).


Sirmais full series was 84.69 - 75.52 - 78.34 - 78.29 - f - 78.99. In a separate junior competition the Riga born athlete who competes for SS "Arkadija" also threw 80.28m for the win.


Olympic silver medallist Ainars Kovals was third in the senior competition (76.22), while Madara Palameika won the women’s event with 61.72m.
