Canada selects 10 runners for World Half Marathon

Ottawa, CanadaAthletics Canada has announced the list of 10 athletes selected to compete in the 14th IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Edmonton on 1 October.

"We look forward to hosting the Canadian debut of this exciting
international athletic event and welcoming Team Canada - and the world - on 1 October", said Daryl Wilson, Q.C, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee.

Reigning Canadian Half Marathon Champions, Tara Quinn-Smith (Waterdown,ON) and Mark Bomba (Vernon,BC), who won their titles in Edmonton on 15 May will lead the Canadian team.  This is Canada's largest entry ever in the World Half Marathon Championships. The team also includes Calgarians Ryan Day, Jeremy Deere and Lisa Harvey. A full copy of the Team Canada listing can be found at: www.athletics.ca .

The 14th IAAF World Half Marathon Championships will be held on Saturday, 1 October. The four and a half lap course begins and ends in Hawrelak Park.
