Haile Gebrselassie has announced that he will run the Tokyo Marathon on the 26 February 2012 where he hopes to qualify for the Olympic Games in London.

TheTokyo Marathon is an IAAF Gold Label Road Race.

Gebrselassie tried to qualify in September at the Berlin Marathon, also an IAAF Gold Label Road Race, but unfortunately due to a lung problem he did not finish the race, but with his health problems solved, he expects to be in full fitness in Tokyo.

Gebrselassie also planned to run this year's Tokyo Marathon, but he had to cancel this race because of a fall during a training ruin in Ethiopia, and after that disappointment he promised his Japanese fans he would come back to Tokyo.

The Games of the XXX Olympiad London 2012 would be the fifth Olympics for Gebrselassie, and he already possesses two gold medals at the 10,000m (1996 and 2000).
