Hansen’s world indoor record ratified

The IAAF has ratified the indoor triple jump World Record of 15.16 set by Ashia Hansen of Great Britain at the European Indoor Championships in Valencia on February 28. Hansen became the first British woman ever to hold an indoor field event world record.

The IAAF has also ratified the World Junior record of 20.39 set by South Africa’s Janus Robberts at Germiston, South Africa on March 7.

Two other world records for women’s pole vault have now been ratified - the World Indoor record of Anzhela Balakhonova (UKR) of 14.45 set at the European Indoors (March 1) and the World Outdoor record of Emma George (AUS) of 4.57 set in Auckland on February 21. There is a simple explanation why these records are being ratified now while better marks (see Press Release "The Year of Women Pole Vaulters) were already ratified on May 15. The necessary paperwork for these records has only recently been received and duly processed by the IAAF. Without the correct paperwork no record can be ratified.
