Japanese Olympic Marathon squads are announced for London

Risa Shigetomo and Ryoko Kizaki respectively the winners of the Osaka and Yokohama Marathons head-up the Japanese team selection announced this week for the women’s Marathon at the Games of XXX Olympiad, London 2012.

The full Japanese Olympic Marathon squads are as follows:

Men

Arata Fujiwara                         Second (first Japanese) in Tokyo

Ryo Yamamoto                       Fourth (first Japanese) in Lake Biwa

Kentaro Nakamoto                   Fifth (second Japanese) in Lake Biwa

Alternate: Hiroyuki Horibata   Seventh (first Japanese) in IAAF World Championships

Women

Risa Shigetomo                         First in Osaka Women          

Ryoko Kizaki                             First in Yokohama Women

Yoshimi Ozaki                           Second (first Japanese) in Nagoya Women

Alternate: Yukiko Akaba           Fifth (first Japanese) in IAAF World Championships
