Men Octathlon Youth - 100 metres

Andres Silva of Uruguay took the lead after this first event of the Octathlon, as he won his heat of the 100 metres in a time of 10.74 seconds, worth 919 points.

This gave him an initial lead of 45 points over his nearest contenders, France's Benjamin Chevrol and Lukas Patera of Czech Republic, both of whom scored 876 points from their time of 10.93.

Chevrol and Patera competed in the same heat, with Chevrol given the advantage in the photo analysis. With 36 athletes in the Octathlon competition, we can expect plenty of movement from this initial placing.
