Gold MedallistGREENE, Maurice (USA)
"It feels great to accomplish something nobody else has ever accomplished (men's 100 & 200 victory in world champs). This is something I have been dreaming of since I was a child. The whole year I have been looking forward to this. Was I nervous because of Obikwelu? Of course I was, you have to be a little bit nervous if someone runs 19.84 in semis. But in the race I wasn't thinking of that. You have to just concentrate to yourself and your own race. After I cleared the curve I just tried to relax and told myself to be strong in the end. In races of this importance the time has no meaning, most important thing is to win. Now I am going for one more gold in the relay, that's going to be fun. It's going to be a great show when we meet with Michael Johnson on track. Who is going to win that? I will!"
Silver Medallist - DA SILVA, Claudinei (BRA)
" I was just trying to get into the final, but when I was there I thought I could repeat what I did in Athens (bronze). I am having my best season so far. The time proves it (PB). This gives me a lot of self confidence for the next year and the Olympics. In the race I just wanted to stay as close to the leader as I could. I will dedicate this medal to my father who has given me so much support."
Bronze Medallist - OBIKWELU, Francis (NGR)
"I felt very, very tired in the final. The semi took a lot more out of me than I could have thought. Because I had the false start I was very slow off the blocks. I couldn't risk of having been disqualified. No, I was not tense in the blocks, I just tried to get a fast start. I really thought I had a chance for gold if I could run a similar race as in semis, but I was too tired for that. Therefore I am pleased with the medal."
