Men's 400m final - Flash Interviews

Kirani JAMES (GRN) GOLD MEDAL  - 45.89

I feel good with the win but the time wasn’t impressive to me or to the fans or anybody really.

I didn’t really feel any pressure but my legs weren’t going for me as I would like. Its been a long season and I’m just glad its over right now.

Marcell DEAK NAGY (HUN) - SILVER MEDAL - 46.09

My dream was a final. I can’t imagine that I got a silver medal. It’s amazing. I am very happy. No [did not expect to win a medal] - maybe a fifth place. [best part of the race] maybe the final metres because I knew I could do it and I did it.

Errol NOLAN (USA) - BRONZE MEDAL - 46.36

It was a blind race all the way around. I should have run it by myself. Not really happy with the time. Not really happy with it at all.

But, I deserve what happened. I didn’t win my heat yesterday and that’s what gave me the lane today and that’s what happened. So, basically, it’s my fault.

But, it was a good race overall. I got a medal so I didn’t go home empty handed.

Alistair MOONA (CAN) 7th place - 47.38

It was all right. The conditions weren’t that great, so I guess you just have to run in whatever comes.

My friendship with Dexter Lee is going way back, from primary school to high school. We used to live like five minutes away in Montego Bay, Jamaica. We keep in touch. We have each other’s phone number, Facebook.

I definitely watched [his race last night]. I’m running for Canada, so I was cheering for Aaron Brown, but Dexter is also my friend and we go back, so I was also cheering for him.

It was kind of difficult because [Kirani James] was beyond me, and I couldn’t really see if he was coming up on me and stuff, so I just had to run.

Definitely - lane seven isn’t my lane for the 400 metres, so I guess you just have to run in whatever lane that comes.

This is a learning experience for me. This is my first time on the international stage, so it’s a stepping stone. I’m just taking things step by step.
