Olympic high jump champion Ivan Ukhov is part of a 37-strong Russian team heading to Sopot next month for the IAAF World Indoor Championships on 7-9 March.

After taking world indoor bronze in Istanbul two years ago, Ukhov will be looking to regain the title he won in 2010. He has been in outstanding form this year, leaping a world-leading 2.41m in Chelyabinsk last month, followed three weeks later with a 2.40m victory in Arnstadt.

But European indoor champion Aleksey Dmitrik, who also cleared 2.40m in Arnstadt, did not gain selection after finishing fourth at the Russian Indoor Championships. Instead, the second place on the team went to the up-and-coming Daniil Tsyplakov, who set a PB of 2.34m to qualify for the team.

World champion Aleksandr Menkov is named in the long jump, while world-leading jumpers Maria Kuchina, Svetlana Biryukova and Yekaterina Koneva lead the way in the high jump, long jump and triple jump respectively.

Medal hopes in the track events are carried by world-leading 400m runner Kseniya Ryzhova and European sprint hurdles champion Sergey Shubenkov.
