Women Heptathlon Event 4200 metres

Carolina Kluft continued down the road to a successful defence of her title and a possible world junior record in the heptathlon as she wiped out the competition in the fourth event of the seven event competition, the 200 metres.

The Swede recorded a winning time in the half-lap race of 23.81, a new personal best and worth 999 points, giving her a four event total of 3850 points.

More than 400 points (428 to be precise) currently separate Kluft from her closest challenger, Olga Alekseyeva, whereas only 200 points separate the places from 2nd to 10th!

Alekseyeva also ran a pb in this event – 25.08, worth 879 points – and Levenkova, currently in third place with 3406 points scored a creditable 893 with her time of 24.93, but it looks as though nothing short of a major disaster can keep Kluft from her second title.
