Women High Jump Qualification

Qualification Standard 1.83 or at least 12 best qualified

There were a total of 8 athletes who achieved the automatic qualifying standard, although only two of them managed to go through to the Final with clear rounds to their credit.

Anna Ksok from Poland went clear, as did Elena Meuti from Italy, a personal best for the Italian, as it was for two other of the automatic qualifiers in Group B: Peaches Roach of Jamaica and Aileen Hermann from Germany. The fifth automatic qualifier in Group B was Australia’s Petrina Price.

In Group A, no athlete scored a clear round. With the two automatic qualifiers, Renata Medgyesova from Slovak Republic and Blanka Valsic from Croatia both requiring 2 attempts at 1.80 metres before a first try clearance of the qualifying height.

The last athlete to satisfy the automatic qualifying standard was Raffaella Lamera from Italy, who needed two attempts at 1.80 and three to pass the qualifying height of 1.83 metres.
