Women's Pentathlon Event 4 Long Jump
Any plans that pentathletes had of upending Natalya Sazanovich's quest for a world title were soundly dashed when the Belarus athlete leaped 6.69 in the long jump.
This produced a four-event total of 4069 and a 235-point lead over second-place Karin Ertl at 3834, which came as the result of a 6.34 jump.
Yelena Prokhorova's 6.42 performance put her in third place with 3744, narrowly ahead of Natalya Roshchupkina's 3708 with one event remaining.
