FacebookTwitterEmail

Adam mohammed AlNour made it a one lap double for Sudan when he won the boys’ 400 metres for Sudan, just a few minutes after his compatriot  Nawal El-Jack had dominated the girls’ event.

With all of the three medallists running new personal bests, Al-Nour managed to hold off  a last minute assault from Kenya’s Julius Kirwa to win the day in 46.56 to Kirwa’s 46.70.

The Sudanese had already started moving up in the first hundred metres and by 200 metres out, he was clearly leading the field into the final bend and onto the home straight. Kirwa and Bryshon Nellum of the USA were chasing hard, but Al-Nour, though seeming to fade a little in the last metres, held of their challenge to clinch the gold.
