With Shawn Crawford looking like he had this race in the bag, it was Joshua J. Johnson who won the dip to take the race in 20.35 to Crawford’s 20.37.
With all away cleanly at the start, it was Crawford who looked the strongest as they came out of the bend and into the home straight, just ahead of Mauritian Stephane Buckland and Darvis Patton (USA). Then with Crawford powering towards the line, Johnson came through in a desperate lunge and outdipped Crawford to take the honours, with Buckland holding on for third place in 20.44.
