The Local Organising Committee (LOC) website for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, Guiyang 2015 on 28 March is now open: gy-2015.com
The website is available in both English and Chinese.
This will be the 41st edition of the IAAF World Cross Country Championships but the first time the event has been staged in China, and only the third time in Asia, since it made its debut on the international calendar in 1973.
Guiyang is the capital of Guizhou Province and is located in the south west of China. It has a mild climate neither extremely hot nor very cold, so ideal for distance running.
One of Guiyang’s nicknames is the ‘forest city’ and its many green spaces will also make it a pleasant location for the championships.
The championship course itself is located in a mountainous area approximately 30km away from the city and is set in and around a race course. It is a well-known facility which since 2000 has hosted several continental and national cross-country championships..
The IAAF website also has a dedicated section covering the IAAF World Cross Country Championships.
