UK coach and publisher Charles Elliott dies aged 78

Charles Elliott (GBR), one of the UK’s leading coaches in the 1970s passed away on 29 December 2010, aged 78.

Charles Elliott was a member of Polytechnic Harriers and a notable coach in a wide range of events from Sprints through to Steeplechase and High Jump, as well as being a meeting organiser and announcer, and a founder member of the Barrier Club for steeplechasers.

He was an early member of the National Union of Track Statisticians (NUTS), and founded and published the monthly magazine 'Athletics Arena' from 1963 to 1971, together with a number of statistical works. 

His funeral will take place at 1:30 on Friday 28 January at Beckenham Crematorium, Elmers End, Beckenham, Kent, BR3 4TD.
